John Snow's Broad Street Pump Mystery
A downloadable game for Windows
My final uni project, a detective game based on the Broad Street Pump historical episode wherein John Snow and Henry Whitehead pioneered techniques of modern epidemiology to attempt to prove that Cholera was a waterborne disease rather than the prevailing idea of the time that it was a multi factor miasmatic disease (i.e caused mainly by bad or poisoned air). Took a lot of research and being a solo dev project a lot of the original scope had to be reduced (I'm really not happy about how much of the level is just modular copy paste) and for some reason the build version has bugs not present in the version I tested? But also this is a uni project so Im not too keen on actually fixing and expanding upon the game (unless this page somehow blows up and everyone tells me to do so in which case, sure).
Special Thanks to Javier and Guillermo my project tutors, the staff of the London Metropolitan Archives, the UK National Archives, The John Snow Archive and Research Companion, my classmates Irene and Juan Pedro who helped at various points, Veronica who composed the music and my friend Hugo who went to the Westminster Archives for me.
